Attack Surface Analyze is the same software used by Microsoft’s internal product teaam used to catalog changes made to the OS by the set up of new application.

The software makes instant snapshots of an company’s infrastructure and analyzes these to identify changes. The software does not evaluate a system based on signatures or known flaws – instead, it looks for classes of security flaws as programs are set up on the Windows platform.

The device has a stand-alone wizard to help guide users through the checking and analysis process; a command-line version facilitates automation and older editions of Windows, and assists IT experts as they include the software (Microsoft Attack Surface Analyzer) with current enterprise management tools.

The updated software features bug repairs improving the user experience, continuing to enable:

Developers to view changes in the attack surface as a result of the release of their code on to the Windows platform
IT experts to evaluate the combination attack surface change by the set up of an company’s line of business aaplications
IT security auditors to evaluate the chance of a particular application set up on the Windows platform during threat risk reviews
IT security incident responders to gain a better understanding of the state of a systems protection during research (if a baseline scan out was taken of the system during the implementation phase).
