Fake emails apparently coming from Skype are targeting users of the popular VoIP software, telling that their Skype password was “successfully changed”, according to Hoax-Slayer.

Fake Skype password change notifications results in phishing

Users that didn’t recently requested a password change might think that their account is getting hijacked and could, without thinking, just hit the link provided.

If you will click the link you will land on a spoofed Skype login page that delivers the entered login informations to the scammers behind this phishing scheme.

Users are as always, advised to log into using only the official login page when they use tools like Skype, IMs, Facebook, and so on.

If you bookmark the login pages or you just enter them in the browser address bar yourself you will be safe and your account too. But, if you follow links included in unsolicited emails – and mostly the ones that try to make you click the inlinks in a hurry – that is not safe.
