Microsoft Office Service Pack 1a for Microsoft Office 2000 includes lots of files that have been updated to fix minor issues or to improve performance (the original release was Service Pack 1, but this was updated to version 1a after some bugs were present in it).
Updates include:
Office core files: several Office core files have been updated to correct or improve the behavior of Office 2000 applications such as recent bugs and security holes in Word and Excel.
Security updates, including the Excel 2000 SYLK file security updates and the Worm.Explore.Zip (Pack) Virus Alert
Office 2000 system-level parts that are updated to Windows 2000 process levels
Microsoft Outlook security enhancements: new encryption capabilities have been added to Outlook 2000. You must explicitly enable this advanced level of security before it is available.
Microsoft Information Access Parts (MDAC) 2.5: MDAC 2.5 features updated drivers, new information objects, and interface improvements for ActiveX information objects, OLE DB, and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) In case you don’t have IE6 then it is advisable to update to IE6 or higher before downloading the Office patch.

There is a known and long-standing problem with this file you have provided. It is merely a Microsft download manager app (< 500kb) that does not work, because the app tries to download the main file (O2KSR1aDL.EXE) which no longer exists, nor supported, on the Microsoft website… And if I could just say, it is not very helpful when websites like yours post files like this without doing any research.
Thank you for your comment. I shall look further into this problem.
Done !
Thanks so much. Just a little while ago the 166 kb file I have worked, and I thought I was up a creek without a paddle.
I have old machines and see no need to spend thousands just so I can use the ‘latest and greatest’ from MS… Win 2000, XP, and Office 2000 are foolproof (and small)
Old software rules!
