Quake 3 1.32 point release fixes a number of mistakes of the previous patch introduced, while adding new features to a much better game play:
PunkBuster: PunkBuster system will automatically update itself anti-cheat software. The PunkBuster system is designed to hold all parties accountable by scanning the game computer for known cheats, game tips and uses similar to the anti-virus software to scan a computer virus. PunkBuster is optional, but without it you can on multiplayer PunkBuster servers to play.
When you first install PunkBuster will be disabled. To enable PunkBuster so that you can join PunkBuster Servers, “Multiplayer”, then click the main menu. Find the item you click in the upper right corner of the server browser in game that says PunkBuster: Disabled and click it. If you have any problems getting PunkBuster or issues related to PunkBuster during the game have please visit the support.
