Note: The default setting for the driver is DMA mode. You can turn off the DMA setting by jogging the VIA IDETool.

This download contains the IDE Bus Master drivers for VIA Bus Master IDE chipsets VT82C580VP or later (the VT82C580VP chip was released in 1996, so the driver works with most of VIA’s chips). In case you are wondering, a Bus Master is responsible for directing information transfer between the CPU & other devices (also called I/O devices). This allows information to move between different parts of the PC without impacting the CPU. In other words, a Bus Master can help improve performance of your process, if it is slow/old.
